HOW TO PUT SALESTRAQTM ON YOUR PALM PILOT OR OTHER PDA
Download and install the free SalesTraq Text file. This text file contains portions of the same data found on the SalesTraq CD, but does not include photos or floor plans. This file may then be imported into an address book found on your PDA (personal digital assistant).
DOWNLOAD PALM PILOT DATA (choose Save File to Disk)
Each record in your address book was designed to hold information about a PERSON (First Name, Last Name, Company, Phone Number, City, State, Zip Code, etc.) When you import the SalesTraq text file into your address book, each record now holds information for a MODEL HOME, instead of a person. Therefore, First Name may equal "Model" and Last Name may equal "Subdivision" and Zip Code may equal "Square feet", etc. Furthermore, after the SalesTraq text file is imported into your address book, it does not magically become a sophisticated, searchable database: It is simply an alphabetical listing of all the new homes in Las Vegas, listed by subdivision-that's all-nothing more!
FYI-We will be developing an application for the Palm Pilot PDA which will consist of a more sophisticated, searchable database, and will also include color photos. We anticipate this application will be ready early next year. The cost for this program has not yet been determined, however the existing SalesTraq text file which you can import into nearly any address book on nearly any PDA today is F - R - E - E!
STEP ONE
Step one is to open your desktop software for your Palm Pilot (or other software for other PDAs) and create an address book into which you will later import the SalesTraq text file. In this example, we create a new address book by going to Edit Categories and naming it New Homes.

STEP TWO
Modify the Custom Field Labels from the Tools menu bar.

STEP THREE
You can now customize these four labels to make them say whatever you like.

STEP FOUR
Go to the Menu Bar and select File, and then Import.

STEP FIVE
Find the location of the SalesTraq text file, and change Files of type to comma separated. (*.csv; *.txt)

STEP SIX
Now you must "Map" the Palm Fields to the data in the SalesTraq text file.

STEP SEVEN
Take a look at the finished product!

Now that the SalesTraq text file has been successfully imported into your address book on your desktop software, the next time you perform a hotsync operation, it will be transferred to your palm pilot. If you are using a PDA other than a Palm Pilot, refer to your owners manual for similar instructions.
